Alves' Account Shows Negative Balance Due to Frozen Assets

Alves' Account Shows Negative Balance Due to Frozen Assets

The Barcelona court has sentenced footballer Alves to four years and six months in prison for sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman. However, according to reports from "Daily Sports," the Brazilian star, who has assets worth €55 million, is facing financial issues during the bail phase.

On Tuesday, the 19th, the court held a hearing on the matter. Based on the evidence presented, the court allowed the former footballer temporary freedom on bail of €1 million.

There have been rumors that Neymar's father would provide the money, but he has denied this on social media. Alves failed to pay the €1 million bail on Friday and therefore had to remain in jail at least throughout the weekend.

Alves' assets are estimated at €55 million, derived from his salaries at various clubs, investments, and advertising and sponsorship contracts. However, he faces financial issues because his account in Brazil has been frozen due to issues with his former wife, Dinora Santana. As of December 31, 2023, his account balance was €-20,000.

Alves' lawyer, Guardiola, stated that in Spain, Alves has two accounts: one with a balance of €0 and another with €51,000, but €50,000 of it has been frozen by the court.

Despite resolving tax disputes, the former footballer is still awaiting a €9.2 million refund from the national tax agency, which he has yet to receive. Currently, he owes the tax agency €645,000.
