Prominent Players Lined up for the Football Arena at the 2024 Olympics
Looking ahead to the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics, expectations are rising around five prominent footballers who potentially may debut at the event held in Paris. The list includes players whose ages are 23 or below, with the exception of three overage options, according to the Olympic rules.
Leading off, France pins hope on Kylian Mbappé to join the national team as an overage participant. Known as one of the best football talents in the world, Mbappé has scored a record 250 goals for Paris Saint-Germain. He has not excluded a double-performance both at Euro 2024 and the Olympics.
Spain sets its eyes on Bryan Zaragoza, the winger who recently signed with Bayern Munich. Despite the country's participation at Euro, Zaragoza can feature at the Olympics; he has made his senior debut for Spain in late 2023.
In Argentina, Alejandro Garnacho's name is trending. The 19-year-old, currently playing for Manchester United, has received four caps for Argentina since last year. His appearance at the Olympics aligns with Argentina's aspirations for a third Olympic gold, along with the defense of their Copa America title.
Egypt could boost their Olympic gold prospects by recruiting Mohamed Salah to their squad. Despite previous disappointments at the Africa Cup of Nations, Salah's participation at the Olympics could be an opportunity, given that Egypt qualified by finishing third at the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.
Lastly, Mykhailo Mudryk of Ukraine could also join the tournament. A part of the team that qualified for the Olympics, Mudryk has undergone a challenging period since signing with Chelsea. His participation hinges on whether Ukraine progresses to Euro 2024.
