Injury to Kingsley Coman Complicates Bayern's Champions League Prospects Against Arsenal
Bayern Munich faces adversity ahead of its Champions League quarter-final decider against Arsenal with key player Kingsley Coman bowing out due to injury. The French winger experienced an adductor muscle issue during the early stages of Bayern's successful 2-0 home match against FC Klon. His absence confirms he will miss out on the thrilling rematch with Arsenal in North London, following a controversial 2-2 draw last week.
The 27-year-old's injury deals a blow to Bayern's outgoing coach Thomas Tuchel as Coman had only recently returned to the pitch. After a bout with torn knee ligaments, Saturday's match marked Coman's first since January. He now faces several weeks of inaction, with Bayern concluding the remainder of the Bundesliga season in five games.
Expressing his disappointment, Tuchel reflected on the unfortunate scenario stating, "The injury of Kingsley is extremely bitter." He added that the injury, "looked extremely painful on TV and it certainly won't be enough for Wednesday."
Concerns deepen as Bayern also miss ex-Gunners forward Serge Gnabry who suffered a hamstring strain after scoring in the first leg against Arsenal. In addition, Alphonso Davies will sit out due to suspension from the competition. However, optimism remains with the return of captain Manuel Neuer and forward Leroy Sane, both expected to perform against Arsenal.
