According to reports from The Sun, two 19-year-old players from the same Premier League club have been arrested on suspicion of rape.

It is understood that police raided the club's stadium over the weekend, with one 19-year-old player being questioned on suspicion of assault and incitement to rape. After a brief questioning, he was allowed to leave the stadium but was later formally arrested. The player spent the night in custody and then underwent further questioning by the police. His teammate, also 19, was arrested the following day and questioned on suspicion of rape.

Last night, police confirmed that both players had been released on bail pending further investigation. The alleged rape occurred on Friday night, with the victim contacting the police several hours later to make a formal complaint.

A police spokesperson stated, "Two men have been arrested in connection with a report of rape. A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and incitement to rape. The second 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape. Both men have been released on bail."

A source told The Sun, "One of the players was at the club's stadium at the time. Police arrived to speak with him. He was taken to a private room within the stadium and questioned by police. The player and another individual left the club and were later formally arrested by police that evening."

Internally, the club has begun discussions on the next steps. It is unclear at this stage whether the players will be suspended pending the outcome of the police investigation.

A club spokesperson stated, "As this matter is now being handled by the police, the football club will not be making any further comment at this stage."
