Brentford aims to probe into Exclusive Season Injury Spree
Brentford Football Club has initiated an internal review following an unprecedented number of serious injuries faced by the team this season. Players have experienced up to 29 injuries throughout the season, including grave afflictions like a season-ending Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) issue for Rico Henry, a severe hamstring injury for Aaron Hickey, and a hamstring issue for Josh Dasilva that warranted surgery.
Manager Thomas Frank admitted the situation is critical and has impeded the team's performance this term. Brentford is currently 15th on the board, just four points away from the relegation zone, despite last season's ninth-place finish. Consequently, the club is analyzing why the players sustained so many injuries and how recuperation times can be condensed before players return to action in the subsequent season.
Frank and his team are scrutinizing the type of injuries, the recovery timelines, and their impact across all departments—coaching staff, sports science, performance, and medical. Emphasizing that the club has been particularly unfortunate because many of their injuries were contact-based and hard to prevent, Frank said they're exploring strategies to avert injuries and get players back quicker.
In another development, Frank has offered encouragement to Shandon Baptiste and Saman Ghoddos regarding the possibility of contract extensions to prevent them from becoming free agents in the summer. The club is considering triggering a one-year optional further year in Baptiste's contract, while Ghoddos’s contract does not feature a similar clause.
